In South Sudan, limited access to healthcare and persistent malnutrition remain major challenges, especially among children, women, and displaced populations. LIDO is committed to improving health and nutrition by supporting community-based health services, promoting maternal and child healthcare, raising awareness on preventive practices, and addressing acute and chronic malnutrition. Working with local communities, government, and development partners, we strive to strengthen health systems, expand access to essential services, and ensure vulnerable groups can live healthier, more dignified lives.
Health & Nutrition
Health and Nutrition
In South Sudan, access to quality healthcare and adequate nutrition remains a pressing challenge, particularly for children, women, and displaced populations. High rates of malnutrition, limited health infrastructure, and recurring emergencies leave vulnerable groups at risk. LIDO is dedicated to strengthening health systems, improving nutrition, and promoting preventive healthcare practices to ensure healthier, more resilient communities.
Key Interventions:
Supporting maternal, newborn, and child health services.
Promoting community awareness on hygiene, sanitation, and disease prevention.
Implementing nutrition programs targeting malnourished children and pregnant or lactating women.
Facilitating immunization campaigns in hard-to-reach areas.
Partnering with health facilities to improve access to essential medicines and services.
Training community health workers to extend basic healthcare to remote communities.
Reproductive Health and HIV Prevention
LIDO prioritizes reproductive health and HIV prevention as a key pillar of community well-being. Our approach focuses on expanding access to essential services and empowering communities with knowledge and skills to make informed health decisions. This includes establishing community health centers in remote areas, conducting awareness campaigns on HIV prevention, reproductive health, and sexual rights, and promoting life skills–based education. We also support immunization programs against sexually transmitted infections and other epidemics, and work closely with government partners to organize public health events that strengthen awareness and improve service delivery.
